Terrapin Travel LLC (“Terrapin Travel LLC,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) values your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you visit our website, submit an inquiry, request a quote, or otherwise interact with us online (the “Site”).
This Privacy Policy is intended to satisfy applicable requirements under the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA) and, where applicable, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA).
1) Scope
This Policy applies to personal information we collect through the Site and related online interactions (for example: contact forms, quote requests, and email communications initiated through the Site). It does not apply to third-party sites you may access through links on our Site.

Depending on how you use the Site and the services you request, we may collect the following categories of personal information:

B. Trip and service inquiry details

D. Booking-related details (when you move from inquiry to planning/booking)
- Date of birth, passport and/or traveler document details, loyalty numbers, emergency contact details, and other information needed to fulfill travel services (as required by suppliers)
E. Payment-related information
- If payments are collected, they are typically processed through third-party payment processors. We generally do not store full payment card numbers; any payment details we retain are limited to what is necessary for records and reconciliation.
Sensitive Personal Information (California)
In some circumstances, travel planning may involve sensitive personal information (for example, passport number, precise geolocation, health-related accommodations, or similar). We use this information only as needed to provide requested services and manage the trip experience.
3) Sources of personal information
We collect personal information from:
- You directly (forms, emails, calls, messages)
- Your devices (cookies, log files, analytics)
- Service providers and travel suppliers (only when necessary to fulfill travel arrangements)
- Partners you authorize (for example, a traveling companion providing details with your consent)

We use personal information to:

8) Data retention
We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.
Typical retention examples (adjust if you use different internal timelines):
- General inquiries / quote requests: up to 24 months after last interaction
- Client/trip records (bookings, invoices, confirmations): up to 7 years (tax/accounting and operational recordkeeping)
- Customer service communications: up to 3 years after resolution
- Marketing email records: until you opt out (and then limited suppression records to honor your opt-out)
We may retain information longer if needed for legal claims, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or compliance obligations.
9) Your California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you may have the right to:
- Know / Access: request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collected about you
- Delete: request deletion of personal information (subject to legal exceptions)
- Correct: request correction of inaccurate personal information
- Opt out of sale or sharing: opt out of “sale” or “sharing” of personal information (as defined by California law)
- Limit use of sensitive personal information: where applicable, limit certain uses/disclosures of sensitive personal information
- Non-discrimination: you will not be discriminated against for exercising your rights
California law also requires certain businesses to provide clear links titled “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” and “Limit the Use of My Sensitive Personal Information,” where applicable. If these apply to our operations, we will provide them in the Site footer and/or via a dedicated page.

10) Global Privacy Control (opt-out preference signals)
Where required and applicable, we will process opt-out preference signals (such as browser-based mechanisms) consistent with California law.
11) CalOPPA “Do Not Track” signals
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (“DNT”) setting. There is no universally accepted standard for DNT. At this time, the Site does not respond to DNT signals. We may allow third parties (such as analytics providers) to collect information about your online activities over time and across different websites when you use the Site.
12) Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Please use caution when sharing information online.
